The Last One: Cabin Falls EcoLodge Paddle Found and Claimed!

Cabin Falls EcoLodge PaddleThe last remaining hidden paddle in the Paddle in the Park Contest has been found! The Cabin Falls Ecolodge Paddle was officially claimed on Saturday (September 13, 2014) afternoon by Tyler Bedard and his son, Tucker. Congratulations to this incredible father and son team!

While the news that all the paddles have been found and claimed is always bitter sweet for us here at the PITPC, we always find joy in the the fact that so many of you went places you had never been before, took trips you never would have taken, and had the adventures that you never would have had, if not for the PITPC.

So the last paddle seeking adventure we will tell you about this year is Tyler’s. And it sounds like it was quite the experience, including a flipped canoe!

Here is how Tyler tells it:

Hey my son Tucker and I found the Cabin Falls paddle yesterday at 3pm across from Haps “retreat” on the Cabins Falls paddle portage. Formerly know as the “Twin Sisters Falls” along the “Golden Staircase”

Thanks for sending us on a great adventure in which we flipped our canoe on our way up the South Lady Evelyn River and did the treacherous Fat Man’s Falls portage and Bridal Veil Falls portage which was just as treacherous. It’s been 21 years since I’ve been on the river.

Afterwards we camped on Hobart Lake and climbed Maple Mountain today. My fourth time and my sons second. It had been 9yrs since we’d last gone up. Too bad to see the park authority has taken off another section of the fire tower ladder and locked the hatch making it impossible to climb.

Tyler and Tucker take some time to thank Hap and Andrea Wilson and sign their guest book at Cabin Falls.

All this in just two days! Looking forward to next years hunt already. Also thanks to Andrew Turcotte (Finder of Algonquin Outfitters Paddle #2) for telling me about your contest and then reminding me a month later.

PS. We tried to thank Hap but he was not at his cabin. However we wrote in his log book there to thank him and let him know we had found the paddle. What a beautiful place he and Andrea have there!

And with that, the PITPC is now officially over. We will be drawing for the last of the paddle prize packages this week with our final draw for the Prospector from Nova Craft Canoe being held the last day of the summer. If you have yet to enter our home version portion of the contest (i.e. The Draw), then be sure to get your name in there now: Enter the PITPC Draw.
